I picked up my copy of Graffiti World at the Brooklyn Museum. The book is probably one of the best collections of excellent graffiti pieces from around the world. The book also includes some information about the artists which was a nice touch.

If you are looking for a nice gift for somebody into the urban art or graffiti scene or just looking for some inspiration, pick up a copy of Graffiti World.

Love it. Great content and can't wait for the next one to come out. It can be quite hard to find modern wall art pictures that are not the same everywhere. This is a great idea and is an alternative to the usual canvas prints that you see everywhere (via wall art to buy online)

I've never been a fan of graffiti. I'm a very visual person and for some reason, it is not a style that, with the exception of its vibrancy, has ever really clicked with me.

I am, however, a sucker for a good story and realized a long time ago that graffiti is not a means of expression that should be dismissed as mere 'vandalism.' It is a very powerful, provocative form of socio-political expression and, in its true employment, the keeper of some of society's most important stories.

Which is why I picked up this book. If I know the story behind a piece of art it changes everything for me, regardless of how I feel about the aesthetics. It doesn't make me want to hang it on a wall in my house necessarily but it does draw me in and fascinate me, connect me to a piece where before there was no hint of commonality.

It's a good book. That's all I can say. Quite good.

Here's what the site said:
Graffiti is as old as cities - from the political slogans that were scribbled on public buildings in the ancient Roman cities of Pompei and Herculaneum, to anonymous spray-can art that began to appear on city walls on the streets of New York and Philadelphia is the late 1970s. Graffiti art has stood the test of time. Celebrated by some and reviled by others, graffiti as we know it today began with a movement in the 1980s that has since become the symbolic artistic language of young people everywhere, and one of the most potent influences on youth-oriented marketing and design. Graffiti World is the most comprehensive survey of Graffiti art ever published. Included here are a history of the medium, profiles and interviews with graffiti's most prominent contemporary artist, and a presentation of the dynamic styles and trends that have emerged during the past 35 years.
