I wish I'd seen one of these years ago. It's kind of scary snowboarding down a big mountain like Shasta with a steep point inches from your ear. You generally strap an ice axe onto your pack when you snowboard down a big mountain, and this guard will make that safer. Even if you carry the axe while snowboarding this guard might still be a good idea as long as it comes off effortlessly during a fall.
