Pollan’s charismatic writing style makes him one of my favorite writers, but it’s the way he explores is subjects, in this case the food chain, that makes me want to buy everything he writes. He convinces us that what we eat changes our landscape more than anything else.

A thoughtful and enlightening read about what we eat and exactly how it got to our plates in the first place. (via amazon.com)

I love love love this book. Pollan takes you down the food chain of four different meals - starting at your plate and tracing them back to their original roots. He visits cow farms, slaughterhouses, corn fields and factories, organic farms, etc. Pollan has a very fun way of writing and this book is really informative. Definitely gave me a new way to look at processed food and how the basis of most of the American diet starts with one food: a corn kernel.

Wow, I'll never look at food the same. It's scary to realize how the corn lobby has become one of the most influential parts of our daily life. To think that I'm not much more than a nacho chip with legs. Read the book, it'll change the way you eat.

A frighteningly fascinating look at how "far away" we live from the food we eat everyday. Michael Pollan looks at four very common meals in the US, and where they came from.
