Now aged 7 which makes him something like 105 in robot dog years, this was the first robot that really looked like a proper robot, and not a pizza box on wheel. I bought mine in 1999, so so I could say that I owned a robot in the year 2000.
Capable of walking around, and playing with its favorite pink ball, the first generation Aibo programming could be influenced by either scolding or praising the robot using the sensor on its head.
Aibo was also very popular with roboticists, who used them as a platform to test locomotion, and even use them in the robot world cup soccer. (via oO's very eclectic)
