I had this book as a kid during the 70's. It always stood out because of its positive messages about the role that spiders play within the ecosystem. It's still in print (via Amazon), and I would say that it's a must read for any child. (via etsy.com)

I read this book to my son when he was very young and terrified of spiders. The screaming that would go on until I got rid of the beast! Today, he won't let me kill any living thing, no matter how small and annoying. It is a fablous book, beautifully illustrated in that 1950-60's style that has been lost. It is a true classic, one that certainly has made a difference in my child's perception of spiders (and all living creatures).
