The mermaid who Tom Hanks vaguely remembers saving his life when he was younger shows up years later as the walking, talking, full-bodied girl of his dreams. Coping with Daryl Hannah's demanding fin, her endearing naivety and the call of the sea is what drives both the romance and the comedy that are so intricately intertwined in this film.

This is the movie that forced me to fall in love with Daryl Hannah (she was a mermaid then). Kill Bill was the one that made me fall out of love with her (she was an assassin then). This is an absolute classic 80s, romantic comedy though.

I am buying this for the second time because my 7-year-old has literally played it to death in the past year. Great flick, especially for little girls who love mermaids.
