I'm one of those strange beasts who has continued to follow the music of David Bowie. Here the offering is the music which Bowie explored during the last rays of the 1990's. To be honest I felt as individual albums each presented a beginning which to my ear remained unfinished, maybe his music ideas concluded within the song composition revealed in each following album. I recall grabbing up various singles for a little more, something that might fill space in-between--not that the music was thin, but rather that the ideas where that compelling. Now the massive David Bowie Box set exists, and it fills up all the missing pieces, and sets links in the chain of Bowie's later 20th Century songbook. I had a feeling that one day this might happen, and I could randomly listen to all of the related works from Outside, Earthling, Hours, Heathen and Reality as a larger work. Oh and about the cake--the cake is a lie. (via Amoeba Music)
