Skinny, solid tubes of aluminum with separate base plates. Both the vases and the baseplates have magnets built in.

Place the plate under a tablecloth, then but the tubular vase on top of your finished spread. The minimalist vases seem to magically resist wind, minor table disturbances and the like.
