On the dog forums I belong to, the question of how to slow down a fast eater comes up frequently. After all, you don't want your dog gobbling up the food like there's no tomorrow. This can lead to a lot of problems, such as choking on large pieces of kibble or even Bloat.

The Break-Fast Bowl gets fast eaters to slow down.

The design features three plastic "knobs" in the center of the bowl that keep the dog from gulping up large amounts of kibble with each bite. The dog has to slow down to get all of the food from its bowl.

Given her druthers, my giant black dog would finish her supper in approximately three bites, then come inside demanding more, sometimes sneaking a bit from the other, not-so-aggressive beta dog. Thus she's overweight and we know it. But ever since we've had the Brake Fast bowl in our house, she actually quite often will leave food in her bowl... and it takes her a good two or three minutes to eat what she does. She spreads her meals out. And she even seems more active. I can't guarantee that she's lost any weight yet (you want to know how much she weighs? You get her to stand on the scale...), but I claim without question that she is a healthier dog. And I like that a lot. (via TerryB)
