Yes, it's offbeat. But it reminds me of home. And there are tracksuits. And "the cancer." And a great fur. What's not to love? "Hell of a damn grave. Wish it were mine." -Royal Tenenbaum

Words can't describe how much I love this movie. Gwenyth Paltrow makes smoking look like an art form. Anjelica Houston is brilliant, not to mention Gene Hackman. And Alec Baldwin's narration of the movie is one of his finest performances to date. I never ever ever get tired of seeing this movie. "What'll I do with Sing Sing? I owe her a hundred." -Royal Tenenbaum

Family dysfunction at its heart-warming, comedic best. Gene Hackman and Anjelica Huston are absolutely brilliant as the parents of three former child prodigies, played by a soulful Luke Wilson, a caustic Gwyneth Paltrow and a remarkably understated Ben Stiller.

This film is probably my least favorite of Wes Anderson movies but it's still one that I enjoy immensely. All the characters are amusing and unique, and together, this all-star cast creates a terrificly detached family.

Wes Anderson and cowriter-actor Owen Wilson have crafted another comedic masterwork that ripples with inventive, richly emotional substance. Because of the all-star cast, hilarious dialogue, and oddball characters existing in their own, wholly original universe, it's easy to miss the depth and complexity of Anderson's brand of comedy. Here, it revolves around Royal Tenenbaum (Gene Hackman), the errant patriarch of a dysfunctional family of geniuses, including precocious playwright Margot (Gwyneth Paltrow), boyish financier and grieving widower Chas (Ben Stiller), and has-been tennis pro Richie (Luke Wilson). All were raised with supportive detachment by mother Etheline (Anjelica Huston), and all ache profoundly for a togetherness they never really had. The Tenenbaums reconcile somehow, but only after Anderson and Wilson (who costars as a loopy literary celebrity) put them through a compassionate series of quirky confrontations and rekindled affections. Not for every taste, but this is brilliant work from any perspective.

I love the sound track, it's wonderful. The film was quirky, camping and another tribute to the genius that is Wes Anderson.
