If you've read my book The Mother of All Parenting Books, you know that I adore one of the tracks on Momnipotent -- the song called "Mommas Have a Secret." (Nancy White -- the singer/songwriter who wrote and performed all the songs on this amazing album gave me permission to reprint an excerpt of the lyrics in the first chapter of my book.) I was thrilled when Nancy agreed. The song talks about how it's impossible to explain motherlove to someone who doesn't have a child, so we tend to brush over the really great stuff -- the stuff that practically defies description anyway. I have purchased and given away tons of copies of this CD over the years because it captures the early years of motherhood so well: the exhaustion, the crazy-making moments, and the hilarious bits, too.
