The Chikuno Cube is made from compressed bamboo charcoal, and is meant to be used as an air purifier. I just love the cube as a mysterious object, which I will keep in the fridge as a conversation piece, as much as for its odor absorbing powers. The hexagonal honeycomb pattern not only looks good, but increases the surface area, which allows the 41x41x41mm cube to absorb more odors. The Chikuno Cube costs $18 at Tortoise, but it will last for a year, and looks a lot better than the yellow box of baking soda it's replacing.

This is so awesome! No more smellies! Product description: Bamboo charcoal has a high capacity of absorbing odors - and this little guy is made out of Bamboo charcoal and clay minerals. But it's the structure of the cube that makes it so special, the micro honeycomb structure basically turns its surface area to approximately the size of four football fields. Yes, four football fields. Try fitting that size tree into your car... But seriously, this is completely chemical free, lasts for a very, very long time, it's cleaned once every 6 months by exposing it to direct sunlight for a day – no kidding, and simply does an awesome job. Whether it's in the car, in the fridge, any closet, it works wonders, it really does!

This is an elegant concept, the look is simplicity itself. There is no reason that it shouldn't work. The price is a bit steep if you're in need of more than one or two, but I guess that if you try it and like it, you can add more over time and they are renewable.

It's attractive, reduces waste (compared to the alternatives), and high-tech. But does it work?

this a tiny honey comb structured cube uses the power of charcoal to deodorize and neutralize odors in enclosed areas. It can be recharged by placing it in the sun every few weeks and last up to a year.
