I loved my original SliMP3, the predecesor to the squeezebox. From all accounts, Slim Devices has only made things better in the following generations. Though I passed on my SliMP3, I am seriously tempted to pick up a new Squeezebox, especially with all of the streaming Internet radio it supports in addition to listening to your MP3 collection on your Linux box.

I spent about six months -- off and on -- trying to build my own silent (fanless), remote-controlled mp3-player appliance with an ethernet input and SPDIF output. My friend bought a squeezebox for a couple hundred bucks. Now I've done the same and I can't imagine what I was thinking. (via esh)
