Before launching his furniture line in 1988, Ted Boerner spent many years designing stage sets and working as an interior designer. His interest in furniture design as a profession was sparked while searching for pieces for his clients. Says Boerner: "My instinct was to design furniture myself--even if it had to look old, since that’s what I had done in the theater." His collection consists of elegant, streamlined pieces showing Japanese, Art Deco and Shaker influences. There are over 45 pieces in the collection, and each one can be completely customized. The furniture is available in showrooms across the US, including his own in San Francisco and Manhattan. (via Elements of Living)
