Regardless of how I feel about her as a person, Amanda Palmer's first solo record was really good. The ex (maybe? i think they're just on hiatus) front woman for the Dresden Dolls released this album last year as a ballad esque/ painfully raw reintroduction into the music industry on her own. With guest cellist Zoe Keating and a very put together line of strings and percussion, she seems to be doing very well. Other people did lend a hand, like Ben Folds as a producer and Neil Gaiman (well known in the comic book world) helping with a matching coffee table book.
The name of this album is a shout out to Twin Peaks, and the cover work really captures to vibe of the music, which features Amanda on the piano and vocals, with lyrics centered around struggling to keep your head above water in relationships/friendships/waking up in the morning. Basically the perfect album for the day nothing goes right and you want to put your head through drywall.
