Sometimes the old designs are still the most beautiful. Yesterday's style and today's technology combine to create this beautiful device for listening to your music in style. (via Luxist)

This phonophone uses no power or batteries or the like - just a special design that uses the sound coming out of your headphones and amplifies it for your listening pleasure. It's not loud enough for a party, but it will work on your desk, by your bed, or in the bathroom just fine. A great and wire free way to enjoy your tunes.

Plug in your ipod and listen: "This cast ceramic grammaphone by Tristan Zimmerman for Science+Sons works without external power or batteries." How cool is that? I say it's pretty darn cool. Okay, not for long-term listening, maybe, but still... I'd love to show it off, especially in my utterly white, completely sterile home-entertainment lab.

Without an additional power source, this ceramic phonograph sculpture uses your earbuds to project sound up to 55Db.

This is pretty clever. The Phonofone is a ceraminc loudspeaker that amplifies sound from your iPod without the use of electricity. Simply place your earbuds on top of the Phonofone's base and using horn acoustics, it will boost the sound of your audio 55 decibels in addition to cancelling some noise. Just for clarification, the amplification isn't loud enough to entertain a room full of people but it's perfect for your desk or bedside.

This is one funky idea. This lovely little gramophone will amplify the sound coming from your earbud headphones with no power whatsoever. Using passive amplification, it jacks up the volume of your earbuds to cube-appropriate levels. You're not going to be able to DJ with this, but it's perfect for an office. It's so cool looking, and you won't feel guilty about using it all the time since it sucks down no power. Altec Lansing, eat your heart out.
