Cat - Blank notebook with Red Altered Cover

The notebook's original cover was of a fibrous, beige rice paper. I took my own ink/watercolor painting of a cat and glued this to the original book cover. I painted around the cat with Quinacridone Red Acrylic. I covered the inside flaps with a leaf patterned rice paper then painted over that with Quinacridone Red Acrylic. The cat painting was done on rice paper which allows hints of the texture of the original cover to come through.

This small notebook can be used as a journal or for note taking. Pages inside are off-white. My hanko (signature stamp) is in the upper corner on the inside of the book. The outside cover has been sealed with a gloss varnish for extra protection.
