I just discovered I had a green thumb when a ivy plant I bought at whole foods hasn't died. I ready to step...to an orchid!

great gift for hard-to-buy-fors. Good for people who are good with plants, because it's interesting and growing orchids is appealing; and also people who are terrible with plants, because it's so easy to care for (leave it entirely alone in indirect light).

A gift of flowers mixed with a bit of science and the cool factor. Unique and definitely interesting. Great for a gardener. I'll have to gift myself with this one. Dying to experience it.

Interactive nature without the interaction! "A nutrient-rich gel supplies all the flower needs to grow inside a sterilized test-tube. ...When the flower outgrows the five-inch tube, simply transplant." (via Cool Hunting)
