I underestimated this band for years, the dreary vocal delivery and throw-a-way lyrics over overtly urgent guitar didn't help. "Our Love to Admire" isn't really anything very different from previous Interpol antics, but now I'm comfortable with their brand of storytelling--choosing to break with blues formulas for something more like journal writing with a soundtrack--it's radio theatre for the pod generation. I have a feeling Interpol albums will become cult classics long after their original fans start to feel old and out of touch because they find them selves choosing the droning Interpol sound from their youth over newer groups.
