Grey is a tricky color. I love grey, but when it comes down to wearing grey, it never seems to be that easy. I like the slightly recent retro feel that comes from this dress. Magenta and grey surprise me with their matching-ness. A basic grey dress would be too blah and a purely magenta dress would be too bright, this dress on the other hand seems just right.
