This is kind of a weird thing to think about, cos the album it leaked and I've benefited from the leak, and got lots of surplus enjoyment out of snagging this one down out of the ether, and I think it really stands up against the previous album as a huge, almost unexpectedly big leap forward for the band, but I also can't help but feel like Bradford Cox just wanted us once to be patient with this one. Not that impatience makes this any less impactful, but there's just a lack of respect. He gives away so much free music, and this is is moment, you know? The band's big and they maybe want to have a party but now it might feel like an awkward idea because when the physical album comes out, people might be over it but I really don't think this one will fade that quickly.

Mmmmm, Deerhunter. Cryptograms was a hard album to follow but I think they did a great job when they released Microcastle/Weird Era Continued. I think this band is pretty unpredictable, but if you're looking for something a little different, listen to Cavalry Scars, a strong piece from this album. Also, the song Saved by Old Times includes vocals from a member of the Black Lips. Very forest/pop.
