Aunt Beep's list 'Faux Trophy" is clearly illustrating the trend for mounted deer heads that are made of anything but deer! This beautiful deer head mounted wall lamp is available at Unica Home. Not cheap....but cheaper than going out, hunting down a deer, casting its' head in glass and illuminating it. So, all things considered, I guess it's a bargain! (via unica.com)

I don't know what the recent craze about faux trophy heads is all about, really. Are we trying to reconnect to nature? Emphasize our distance from our hunting ancestors? Do deer trophy heads carry the same cultural connotations in the United States as they do in Europe? Has some cultural anthropology student already written this paper? ... it doesn't matter at the moment. I like this one: it does double (or triple?) duty.
