Some people say it's absurd to spend $225 on a bike helmet. Those people have never owned the Giro Ionos. I was sold on last year's Atmos, and that's what I still have until I can justify selling the old one to a buddy and spring for the Ionos. Basically these are the same in terms of materials and workmanship (which means they're quite simply the best helmets made), but the Ionos is the result of Giro's obsessive testing in the pro peloton. They've managed to make a helmet that actually feels better than wearing nothing at all, in that the unique shape forces air onto your head, making it cooler than if you were not wearing a helmet at all.
