The sides are nearly see-through breathable mesh for air circulation. The heel is clear with a removable color swatch and removable shock absorbing insole. The reason these shoes actually bounce is thanks to the adiprene bottom with flex grooves. It is by far the most comfortable show I've ever owned and helps a great deal with foot stability, support, and cushion.
