I love this wonderful sculpture from Kenya and its story is equally interesting: the Kisii sculptors of Western Kenya use skills passed down through many generations to produce this flowing symbol of the family unit. Soapstone carving started in western Kenya around 1835 when the Bantu Kisii migrated to the region. The soapstone from which this piece is carved is locally mined on the hillsides of Kisii country. 18"Hx6"Dx6"W.

Great gift for the holidays!
