Description

I'm not really sure what a Pink Flamingo symbolizes, but I like them as a landmarks. I've always had a thing about the flags, monoliths, and other markers used by early explorers to mark their presents in new lands. During the U.S. Atomic Age Pink Flamingos were planted throughout the naked lawns of the virgin suburban landscape, and although these brightly colored bodies are often looked at as a sign of bad taste they also tend to evoke the whimsical side of the American perspective, similarly in the way that Garden Gnomes give French estates a softer yet fictionalized quality. What's important to note in Pink Flamingos culture is that we see them introduced to environments which no real flamingo would ever inhabit. My favorite Pink Flamingos locations are trailer parks (usually in the Nevada desert) or outside of cabins in the snow country--but the best locations are yet to come, now President Bush has made it a national priority to put people on Mars, I expect and look forward to the site of Pink Flamingos sprouting up all over the Martian terrain--now that's what makes America great.
