In the metropolitan areas, most guys carry messenger bags during their commute. This is the one I use daily. It's navy blue and understated on the outside and wild orange on the inside. The interior color actually helps me find things quicker since it's so bright that everything in the bag stands out in contrast. Also has some handy pockets for an iPod with a hole for the headphone wire to snake through. Very durable and sharp but understated.

Jack Spade makes a nice clean canvas bag with a cushion insert for laptops. A classic for those fashion simplistas.

I suppose my product selections become somewhat redundant. Ultimately, I look for functional objects that are made well. I don't like to create waste and as such seek out timeless essentials that I can use indefinitely. I think Jack Spade bags really have this notion sewn-up. Their simple bags look fine even after a little banging around.

I have this bag in olive green. This is the best messenger bag I own. Yes, its supposed to be for guys, but ladies, you can rock it too! I really like to carry this on days when I'm going to be out and about a lot. It has lots of room in the bag and is lined with a funky orange vinyl that is very easy to clean. There are two cool side pockets, one you can put keys in, and the other an iPod (there is even a hole to stick your earphones through...how cool). You just can't go wrong with this bag!
