Field Guide to Gestures: How to Identify and Interpret Virtually Every Gesture Known to Man
a guide to the practically obvious, with step-by-step instructions. recc'd by someone on lj, i am utterly amused by this. could be useful for folks w/ autism or other folks along the spectrum, as well as the extremely socially inept. i'm curious how using these instructions would work for someone - would it come out naturally, or is there still something lost between the acts and the actual meaning/intent? excepted part: "For putting an arm around someone's shoulder, the steps were 3 in number. 1. Extend arm out to one side from the shoulder. 2. Put arm over both shoulders of other person. 3. Lower arm and put hand on far shoulder. (4. optional step) pull person toward you gently."
