Lightspeed Champion is Devonte Haynes, ex Test-Icle member. I first heard of him through Bob Boilen on NPR's All Songs Considered. If you're familiar, you know that getting a Boilen rec. definitely holds some weight. Not to mention, it will probably be articulated in a manner that is entirely too intelligent for most of us to understand.

I've gotten task. If you like the other music I like, you'll like Falling Off the Lavender Bridge. It's a little uppity. But, I still enjoy it -- Just not too much of it.

Dev Hynes from Test Icicles is back and solo as Lightspeed Champion. This kind of thing is a little more upbeat than my usual music library, but there is something about this album that I cannot get enough of. Galaxy of the Lost, the most talked about song from this one, is one of the best new songs I've heard in a LONG time. The instrumentals can make you feel like you're standing in a big bright garden, while the lyrics explain a rocky situation with alcohol and maybe his girlfriend. Midnight Surprise is also beautiful, and does showcase how well this guy can tell a story. My personal favorite is Salty Water, and that ones a little harder to explain. No matter your musical style, I think that Lightspeed Champion has a song or two for you.
