Page Points - Levenger
These are the best page markers I've used. I buy them in copper. When I was in college I used these in my school books instead of using all the post-it notes (which, don't get me wrong, I use a lot, but these take up less space and point directly at what you need). Now, I use them in some of my better cookbooks. So far, I've only been able to find them online at Levenger. If you know of another place, please let me know.
Rediculously expensive compared to Book Darts from bookdarts.com; Levenger charges $0.27 per marker ($10 for 36), whereas in bulk ($45 for 500) Book Darts can cost $0.09 (or less for larger orders) each. Otherwise, the general idea is wonderful, making a handsome marker for nicer books, or any book that deserves to be more so. The only caveat is that they work best on hardbound books -- with paperback and spiral bound books, the loose binding makes them prone to snagging more than one page at once when you flip through pages or close the book.
