Rivets can be re-used although a rivet remover is recommended. Check out this rivets for building castles, ships and more out of cardboard. Kids love building something so big and then get to crawl around in it with their friends. The beauty of these rivets is that you avoid using staples, glue, tape or any other materials that can be tricky around kids.
