I spent a week without power and I was ever so glad I had a hand crank radio. There were no batteries to be had for miles around by the end of the first day. My little radio kept me connected and up-to-date throughout the week. We really bonded. But... I have to admit I'm trading it in for this baby- it has a built in cell-phone charger and comes with an array of tips for common brands, it gets AM/FM, shortwave and weatherband frequencies, and it has a spiffy little light (there were no more candles to be bought by day three). Time to upgrade!
