A few years ago I visited Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany and the king's morning room had a beautiful morning sky with a few overhanging trees painted on its ceiling, very much like some of the images offered by The Sky Factory. I've always wanted to have a ceiling of my own like that. Plus, I've lived and worked in some dark cramped spaces and its about time someone gave us a way to make them more bearable. Tons of options for your ceiling and they offer virtual windows too. (via john and rose)

SkyCeilings are photographic illusions of real skies that fit into standard ceiling grid systems. Luminous SkyCeilings feature fluorescent or LED lighting that illuminate the translucent images from behind. Ambient SkyCeilings are made from opaque image tiles that are lit by room or cove lighting.

This great idea create private portals to a fresh, open space for the bed-ridden, or desk bound like me. A fantastic idea!!

I have seen special tiles like these in one of my doctors office. It great a relaxing you. I am going to put this one on my wish list. Awesome find.

These are installed into a pre-existing ceiling grid in an office building to make photographic illusions of real skies. This all sounds very nice. Much better than looking at those sporadically sprinkled ceiling tiles. Not it's just up to you to convince your boss to throw down.

I love it! This is fantastic for bed ridden friends (or a kids room!) and would be excellently used in commercial design for application in Assisted Living and Hospice, where they are soothing...

The Sky Factory deals in fake skylights and windows. Their SkyCeilings and Luminous Virtual Windows are photos of the outside that fit into standard ceiling or window grid systems. Fluorescent and LED backlighting is also available. It's like having a piece of Vegas in your own home! Seen here is a backlit Luminous SkyCeiling installed in a medical procedure room.
