Bad Education (Original Uncut NC-17 Edition)
A gay friend and I both have pure and impure interest in Gael Garcia Bernal, so we went to see this together when it was first released. We got to the theatre late and the only place to sit was in those awful front rows that when I attempt to watch from I can feel my contacs slowly slide off my eyeballs. We weren't happy, to say the least, but we had no choice. Then came the swimming pool scene. Suddenly we had the best and ONLY seats in the room! It's not among Almodovar's critically acclaimed works but it bears his stamp in every way. Bad Education is a film noir, suspenseful, yet colour saturated and features Gael Garcia Bernal in a dual role.
This movie is brilliant and tragic. It's the story of two reunited men who as boys in Catholic school fell in love. But there love was interrupted by a perverse priest with lecherous plans of his own. Directed by Pedro Almodovar.
