Bought this kit (w/18-55mm AF-S zoom lens) recently as my first digital true SLR (meaning "through-the-lens" people, so you can't frame the picture with the LCD screen held two feet away from you!). I'm having a blast with it, and it's almost impossible to take a bad picture with it. I can't wait to take it with me on extended vacations, as I haven't had one in the last six months. Tip: Take mode (P) and settings advice from pro photographer, frequent blogger, and well-known Nikon enthusiast Ken Rockwell at www.KenRockwell.com

Good to have an SLR digital camera around the studio.
I shot with a D100 and it rocks. Not sure if the D50 is as good but I should check it out.
