Another Sofia Coppola movie that I enjoy immensely. Again, the music and imagery blew my mind. Not only that, but the film truly captures the young Marie Antoinette (this film is based on a biographical book).

ACHIEVEMENT IN COSTUME DESIGN

There has been a lot of buzz about the new Sofia Coppola's movie 'Marie Antoinette'. Sofia Coppola collaborated with Antonia Fraser, author of history and novels and best known for writing biographies.

This movie is the retelling of France's iconic but ill-fated queen, Marie Antoinette. From her betrothal and marriage to Louis XVI at 15 to her reign as queen at 19 and to her beheading in 1793 at the age of 38.

I love the costumes, design, the actors, the music...I love wondering around the apartment with the film playing in the background.

This film was criticized as playing fast and loose with history and being vacuous to boot. It tells the story of arguably the most famous and infamous queen in history, French queen Marie Antoinette, whose husband was at the helm of a France dissolving into revolution.

Sofia Coppola has crafted a believable story around the teenager thrust into the pomp of overblown French society. And too little positive attention has been given to the attention paid to all the costumes, sets and style of the film. That's what sticks out most - and Coppola should not be criticized for "glossing over" the historical details. This is a film about Marie Antoinette, not Marie Antoinette and the French Revolution.

It's soundtracked to surprising effect with new wave - yet another thing Coppola's been criticised for - but it adds interest and allows for Marie Antoinette's story to have some modern relevance.

It's a candy-coloured fantastic film full of visual delights and Kirsten Dunst does a stellar job in the lead role.

I am a HUGE Kirsten Dunst fan! I bought this flick just for the fact she's in it! She's hot! See as she relives the age old story of Marie Antoinette and France!

Based on Antonia Fraser's book about the ill-fated Archduchess of Austria and later Queen of France, 'Marie Antoinette' tells the story of the most misunderstood and abused woman in history, from her birth in Imperial Austria to her later life in France.

;;I love this one! Not exactly popular with the guys, but still really good for a date movie.

it's a decadent, beautifully surreal movie that's a more playful (albeit inaccurate) retelling of a blood-stained history.
