Such a pretty album. Zoey Deschanel's voice sounds amazing with M Ward's production. It's definitely an old-time feel, but not in the same vein as most of M Ward's stuff. The arrangements remind me more of big band or old-time musical music, rather than the more blues or folk sound that M Ward is associated with. A perfect pairing with Zoey's voice.

Every once and awhile a special little album will makes its way into your hearts, She & Him might just be that album. If you loved Zooey Daschenel's rendition of Baby its cold outside in the movie Elf, than you should give this album a listen. It's got an old world charm about it that just might speak to you. It did for me.

The duo She and Him consisting of M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel released their much anticipated debut album earlier this year. Volume One features songs with a classic pop and country twang sound. "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here" has been featured to promote the Urban Outfitters Spring 2008 line and can be heard on the airwaves on Indie 103.1 and 89.9 KCRW. Zooey Deschanel is one of the few credible actors turned musicians that I deeply admire. Volume One is a beautiful and earnest album that truly shines with stellar vocal harmonies and thoughtful lyrics. My favorite songs on the album are "I thought I Saw Your Face Today" and "Sentimental Heart."

Zooey Deschanel is the actress that I would want to play me in a movie, and now she's also the one that I'd want to sing the soundtrack. Her voice is so pure, and her lyrics are great too. There's something a bit Beatles-esque about the overall vibe, but at times she sounds a teenie bit like Dolly with just the right about of twang.

It doesn't even sound like it belongs in today and that's a good thing. Zooey Deschanel's voice has this unique ability to take you back and transform you with melodic and soothing sounds that are accompanied by folk legend, M. Ward.

Zooey Deschanel CAN sing, write songs, and she's adorable to boot. I love this cooperation between she, and him... M. Ward. So glad they got together! I am eagerly awaiting Volume Two, which I've heard is in the works!!! I find her beautiful voice soothing and enchanting.
