I use it every day. Designed in function and feel for the Mac user. If, like me, you've been juggling IM contacts in Yahoo, AOL, and Gmail, not to mention the the dozen others Adium supports, this is for you.

I'm attracted to the simplicity (and the exclusivity!) of using Apple iSoftware, but let's face it, iChat is weak. Since the Mac OS makes downloading, installation, and updating even external software so easy, there is no reason not to take advantage of alternatives! The AIM client for Macs hobbled along on my MacBook for a little while, but then I found Adium, an alternative to iChat with more features and stability than AIM. Features include tabbed IM's, conversation archives, an 'Invisible' status setting, and the ability to sign on with an away message already set up. Adium also supports profiles and makes direct connections. This freeware is truly all about customization. Explore extras like dock icons, plugins and sounds at www.adiumxtras.com.
