Who thought crosswords were so interesting. This is a really entertaining documentary, surprisingly. I really loved the craftsmanship and skill that goes into constructing a great crossword. "nine letter word for extraordinarily good, begins with f"!
"A movie about crosswords? That's got to be boring!" said a friend as we were sitting down to watch this documentary. I had doubts about it myself, but it was highly recommended and I usually like documentaries, so why not? I wasn't dissappointed. This film is a window into the smart, quirky world of crossword puzzle makers and solvers. The characters are very nerdy, which makes it almost funny - imagine "Best in Show" but toned down a little since they aren't trying to make fun of these people. Good interviews with "regular" crossword solvers like Bill Clinton, Jon Stewart, and Mike Mussina as well.
