  Mulan is a breathe of fresh of air from the typical Disney princesses. She's a young girl who only wants to protect her injured father from having to go serve in war again. She she pretends to be his son and joins the army in his place. Eventually, she becomes a great warrior and earns the respect of her peers only to lose it all when they discover the truth about her.
