Babies can't use blankets for risk of suffication. So, you need something else to keep them warm. Besides their pjs, you need a sleep sack. Tons of companies make them. Halo makes a lightweight version and a fleece version in three sizes. It's great for keeping baby warm without worrying about blankets creeping up on their faces.

Safer sleeping for babies without loose blankets, so they don't risk breathing in too much carbon dioxide by becoming trapped under a loose blanket in their sleep (something we'll definitely want to avoid).

Our little fella can't get enough of this little burrito maker. We've tried other sack systems, but this one really has enough grip to keep that swaddle tight and comfortable so his hands don't fidget away. Also, when he's in a bit of a slumber, we re-wrap him with his arms free to give him that feeling of control little boys so need from that early age. The unique element of having a zipper on the body suit seems counterintuitive (i.e. he'll get caught), but because it zips down and it's easy to tuck his feet into the large sack bottom, the zipper is actually quite ingenious.
