Late 80's John Cusack/Tim Robbins goodness.
I'm sure you have certain movies that trigger atmospheric recollections that leave you all warm and fuzzy.... this is one for me. I was an undergrad at Northwestern 89-93 and Saturday mornings were about lounging around in darkened rooms at the Pike frat house before doing the walk of shame home, eating cold Dominos pizza and watching this and Star Trek Next Generation. Might not sound like much but what I wouldn't give for a few of those days now. Though if I was leaving a frat house on a Saturday am now at the age of 37 I think I'd be looking for high-fives not doing a walk of shame, lol.....
i know very few people who have seen it so if you happen to be in that crowd, go buy this. It is so damn funny. It's about a couple of guys trying to make it in the music business. Their attempts at producing low-budget videos, for one, will have you laughing your a** off. Check out this youtube clip and enjoy not only a young Robbins' 'fro but the beefy Swedish band that performs Baby Doll:

And the soundtrack for this is one of my all-time favorites. A group called The Swanky Modes (great name, IMO) does quite a bit of it and that alone is worth the price of the disc. They do a Roscoe's Chicken song that, two decades after I first heard it, makes me laugh out loud. In the movie, the boys use it as an ad video for a white guy's chicken house. And if you want to see prime Swanky Modes, check out their performance of Ordinary Man. Maybe you had to see the movie to appreciate this but just watching it puts me in a great mood. And reminds me that I want to start making grand entrances involving fog machines:
