“I suppose we’ve always been maximalists,” says Alstair McAuley of Timorous Beasties, the Glasgow-based company known for its exquisite oversize-pattern wallpapers and fabrics. McAuley and partner Paul Simmons have a flair for the subversive, too: Glasgow Toile substitutes an urban milieu with drug addicts, homeless and working prostitutes for traditional Toile de Jouy scenery—which comes in either wallcoverings or textiles, as shown on the armchair. Timorous Beasties work is so cool!

They've done vinyl wall stickers in collaboration with Paris based 'Domestic'. You can buy them in the UK at www.mywallsticker.co.uk.

This Glasgow design studio produces a brilliant range of fabrics, wallpaper, window shades and other bits and bobs. I'm waiting to buy a flat...but as soon as I do I'll be looking into getting some Timorous Beasties items. They produce gorgeous designs which will definitely give your house a bit of character.
