My mom has been promoting the Kindle for awhile now, trying to get me interested. I just couldn't get into it. But then I read an article on Barnes and Noble's new eBook Reader, the Nook, and am suddenly more interested than I once was. I've been reading more on it online, and it seems almost too good to be true! You can access tons of eBooks, some of which are even free. You can scroll through your eBook covers. You can take tons of books with you from your "library," no matter where you go. The only downsides I read are that it doesn't have QUITE the battery life that the Kindle does, and it doesn't have text-to-speech options (like the Kindle). However, I think the fact that the memory is expandable (unlike the Kindle) more than makes up for that!

Very sleek and incredibly well done, the Nook is set to be the new ITem for geeks with a love for the modern, or bookies who need a nudge into the 21st century.

It was only a matter of time before someone started to generate a little more competitive pressure within the eBook world. Lucky for us, the competition has delivered with an affordable and customizable option just in time for the holidays. With custom "book" covers designed by Jonathan Adler, Kate Spade and Jack Spade; an entire library of free books; and title-sharing technology, the nook is making all the other models look slightly archaic.

Word on the street is that the Nook dominates the kindle. I can't attest for either. The new Barnes & Noble reader is certainly a wee bit sexier though.

I recently got a Kindle 2 and I love it. I got rid of quite a few book. I also love being able to carry around my entire library in my purse! I was happy as a little clam until I heard about the new Nook eBook reader from Barnes and Nobel. It looks similar to a Kindle 2 but has some differences:

~ Wifi from AT&T

~Small piece of real estate on the bottom of the screen is color. Shows all book covers in color and is touch screen

~Supports up to a 16 gig memory card

~Removable battery

~PDF support

If I had not already gotten a Kindle 2 I would seriously consider one of these. The battery life is shorter than a Kindle. It also does not have web browsing capability. I also briefly browsed at the ebook offerings they have on B and N vs. Amazon. They appear to have more titles, but not necessarily ones I want to read like on Amazon.

At the end of the day it is nice to see another entry into the ereader market.
