I grew up with Eloise and Eloise in Paris. Eloise is a small girl who lives in the Plaza hotel with her nanny. I think the book jacket describes her as a force of nature. This is not inaccurate. The illustrations by Hilary Knight are wonderful and sly.
A classic. "I'm Eloise. I'm 6." Not even an Hello! That is also one of the few periods you'll encounter in this book. Kay Thompson wrote the text perfectly, capturing that slightly bratty little child voice that we all had at one time. It's simple reading but a load of fun. We get to follow Eloise's daily routine and adventures in mayhem. We're also treated to her sly commentary on life and things (nanny weighs 13 stones). It's full of energy and is not at ALL boring. The illustrations by Hillary Knight are perfect. There's a fun fold out page where you watch Eloise running all around the Plaza hotel. My words don't do the book justice. Get a kid this book. They'll like it.
