Just as the name describes, this is the smartest pen in history! Using the LiveScribe notebooks or journals (about $5.00 a piece) you can use the LiveScribe pen to write down notes and also play back the audio associated with your notes!
With the LiveScribe system you just start writing and the audio immediately records. To play back the audio, just tap the play box along the bottom of the notebook page. You can speed up or slow down the audio, plus you can click a word in your notes and jump straight to that audio section.
Better yet, you can download your notes and audio directly to you computer which allows you to search for keywords in your notes and also share your notes with friends. This device is a MUST HAVE for students, business people, and journalists!

This pen knows where it is on your (specially-purchased) paper. It can record voice memos and associate them with the location where you're currently writing. (via technologyreview.com)

I finally saw one of these in action at a conference I went to and I think it would be perfect for me. My note taking style is to just jot a word or phrase to help me remember what was said, which unfortunately doesn't always work.
I do wonder if its cool to be recording others in the room without their permission, but also the like the "spy" aspect of that in a very childish way :-)

this pen records, remembers and downloads all that information to your computer. The perfect item for back to school or just plain tech junkies. (via www.livescribe.com)

Record a seminar and take notes separately. A pen, a recorder, a computer. I just watched a vid on YouTube where the pen was used to translate words into various languages - you just write them on a pad and the computer tells you the translation. Or use it to play on a basic keyboard. I love this gadget.

Wait. What? This pen will record and sync audio with whatever you write. Simply jot down your notes on its special paper. You can then tap words or drawings with the pen tip to replay whatever audio was recorded when that item was written. They call it "paper-based computing" and I like it!
