A great little machine to shoot your personal video. Why?

Well, it's certainly not a cool design, it looks terrible to be honest, the Canon designer who shaped it must have been in the department for orthopedic devices before that. It is not great in handling either, and the software that comes with it is an insult to the eye so you will do anything not to use it (at least to those of us, who are used to beautifully designed Mac programs).

But it does one thing beautifully: shoot video. The quality of video is just breathtaking for a consumer camera. Very clear color, very balanced whites, and finally a camera that does not only have dozens of ugly HD logos on its body, but that actually shoots real HD video, with wonderful details and no significant artefacts.

So hail to the Canon engineers, shame on its designers and a bonus for anyone who finds a cute camcorder wrap for the ugly duckling.
