This book is insanely useful for anyone - tourist or local. With maps of each neighborhood broken down by essentials, sundries/entertainment and transportation, I use it for everything from finding the nearest Citibank to giving friends directions to my picnic spot in Central Park to figuring out just what the current colors on the Empire State Building mean.

I'd love it if the sections dedicated to the outer boroughs were equally thorough (even the NFTs dedicated solely to those boroughs pale in comparison), but you can't have it all.

Indispensable for the new-to-NYC-er. Handy subway maps, locality-based recommendations on dining, shopping, galleries and other places of interest.

A guide book that is quite simply not interested in tourists. Not that I mind them, feel free to visit anytime! However, even for veteran city residents, finding the city's latest jewels can be a challenge.

The book has excellent maps to some of the hippest spots and activites. Updated every year.

Essential for anyone who needs a Wi-fi connected cafe, a dog-walker, or a vegan restaurant. These books tell you what other guides leave out. Excelent maps, and perfect for the interested visitor, or urban dweller.
