I can't believe I haven't recommended this book yet! It's a wonderful book that I first read in high school about a Hawaiian family that has been split apart and gone through much more tragedy/drama than most. There's also references to hapa-ness. It's a beautifully written novel that explores the bonds of motherhood, Hawai'i, and more amongst the 5 main women in the novel.
