"This metal flash drive is built to withstand software and hardware attacks — the main chip self-destructs, Mission Impossible-style, after 10 incorrect password attempts, making the drive totally unreadable." (via ThisNext Blog)

This Flash Drive Will Self-Destruct in 3...2...1...; . If you forget your password, you may be trouble; After ten consecutive failed password attempts, the IronKey self-destructs (internally) and erases everything on the drive, making the data completely unrecoverable. (via likecool.com)

I have no reason for anything but the cheapest flash drive. However, say you're carrying around something important (like nuclear missile codes), than this might be more necessary.

If you plan on getting a USB flash drive but must ensure data security, this is a must-have. It's essentially hacker proof -- it's password-protected and the insides self-destruct with 10 incorrect attempts. If you physically try to take it apart, epoxy engulfs the drive's contents.

Great way to feel like a spy. It's a simple flash drive but it's loaded with security features.
First, you have to set a password that must be entered before you can access your files. 10 wrong attempts and your data will be permanently erased. If an ingenious hacker tries to pry it open and read the memory chips, he will find them destroyed by lethal (to the chips) goo.
Other than the cool steel look, it also comes with a built in Firefox browser with guaranteed anonymity. It automatically scrambles your computer location (IP address) so you're that much harder to track down.
Useful? For most people, probably not. But it is cool. Comes in 1 to 8 GB versions.
